DENVER, (KDVR) -- A Denver dog is on the road to recovery just days after his owner said he somehow ingested methamphetamine on their evening stroll.Haden Carr said his 3-year-old golden retriever Mister suddenly started acting strange when they got home. “He just wasn’t able to relax, whatsoever. He was panting a lot, he wouldn’t drink any water,” said Carr. “It appeared to me that he was having a dog anxiety attack.”Carr said he immediately took Mister to an emergency veterinarian, where blood tests revealed the methamphetamine exposure. The FOX31 story caught the attention of Westminster Fire Safety Medical Officer Eric "Odie" Roth, who specializes in K9 first aid and CPR. “There’s a lot of dangers out in the world when you own a pet," he said. "Walking on paths is one of them, unfortunately.”Roth said Carr did the right thing seeking medical attention right away, but said he often encounters pet owners who wait too long to get help. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — The Dolphins activated veteran running back Jeff Wilson Jr. off injured reserve on Saturday, meaning he could make his season debut when Miami visits Philadelphia on Sunday night.Wilson missed the first six games because of various ailments, including finger and midsection injuries. His return could be a boost for Miami’s backfield, which will be without standout rookie running back De’Von Achane for at least three more games because of a knee injury.Coach Mike McDaniel said last week that Wilson could have been activated against the Carolina Panthers but wasn’t because of game-day roster limitations.“He’s doing great and he was ready to go,” McDaniel said. “And really, I’ve never had issues with players chomping at the bit and then being like, ‘All right, you have to wait.’ It just means he’s going to be hungrier, and I think we’ll all benefit from when that time comes.”The Dolphins have the NFL’s top rushing offense, averaging 181...Toddler, 3, grazed by bullet in bed in Connecticut; police say drive-by shooting was ‘targeted’

For Mark DeJoie, the head of North Shore human services provider Centerboard, Inc., the need to limit the number of people in the state’s emergency shelter system boils down to a simple “math problem.”“There’s just too many people for too few units. And that, too, has been exacerbated because of the migrant influx,” he said in an interview. “We’re dealing with an immigration crisis as a shelter system. We’re not built for that. We’re built to house families.”An influx of migrants over the past year has pushed a shelter system built to handle about 3,000 families each year to its limits, forcing providers across the state to scramble to find additional housing units for the thousands of new arrivals that have made their way to Massachusetts.More than 1,500 families have entered the emergency shelter system since Gov. Maura Healey declared a state of emergency at the start of August. The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities reported 7,089 families in the system as...Latest news
