TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida governor wins reelection by record numbers and later finds himself running as a party conservative in a crowded presidential primary. In New Hampshire, he tip-toes around the explosive abortion rights issue, discusses ongoing Israeli military operations, promises he'll secure the Mexican border and warns that the current administration's fiscal insanity will cause more inflation, not reduce it.While it sounds like Republican Gov. DeSantis is looking to avoid a similar fate as he prepares for the third GOP debate this week in his home state. If DeSantis or former President Donald Trump eventually is elected president next year, it would be the first time Americans have chosen a Floridian to lead them. Trump was a New York snowbird with a second home in Palm Beach when he was first elected, but he l...Pittsfield launching 'snow angel' pilot program

To best appreciate the work of artist Sherry Wiggins, it helps to know a bit about her process.Artist Sherry Wiggins explores contemporary interpretations of classic figures using her own body as a canvas. This is her take on Aphrodite. (Luis Filipe Branco, provided by Michael Warren Gallery)In essence, it happens like this: She studies the lives of famous women, real and mythological, then uses costumes and props to inhabit their characters through her own lens, that of a 68-year-old woman living in the 21st century who is well-read and fully enmeshed in both present-day feminism and contemporary art. Then she finds a setting — in the case of the works on display currently at Michael Warren gallery, a series of outdoor fields in Holland and Portugal — and has someone else take her picture. The Avalanche has played 10 games and are on pace for 114 points this season. This franchise has surpassed 112 points twice since moving to Colorado, and both years (2001 and 2022) ended with a Stanley Cup celebration. The Avalanche has also lost three of the past four games by a combined 15-0 margin, including a 7-0 spanking Saturday night by one of its chief Cup-contending rivals, the defending champion Vegas Golden Knights.Colorado is off to a great start and can be one of the best teams in the NHL, but is also officially in a weird funk with some work to do. Both things can be true. With that in mind, here are eight observations with the Avs at the 10-game mark.
